What is hypnosis for anxiety and stress?
There’s certainly a fine line between stress and anxiety. Both are emotional responses, but stress is typically caused by external triggers. These triggers can be short-term, such as a work deadline or a fight with a loved one. They can also be long-term, such as being unable to work, discrimination, or chronic illness. However, stress and anxiety hypnotherapy can help with both of these triggers.
Anxiety, on the other hand, is defined by persistent, excessive worries that don’t go away, even in the absence of a stressor.
The symptoms for stress and anxiety can often be physical as well as mental. Very often they are virtually identical; irritability, anger, fatigue, muscle pain, digestive troubles, insomnia or difficulty sleeping and problems concentrating to name just a few.
Maybe the impact of Covid has brought about excessive stress and anxiety?
If you dislike the thought of taking medication or have tried various remedies which have not consequently had the desired outcome, the great news is that anxiety hypnotherapy can be extremely effective. Hypnosis for anxiety and stress enables you to take back control over these unwanted thoughts and feelings. Now that’s certainly worth thinking about, isn’t it?
The different types of anxiety and stress
- Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) – a long term condition that causes you to feel anxious about a wide range of situations. What’s more, people with GAD often can’t remember the last time they felt relaxed.
- Panic disorder – stress or anxiety causes you to have regular attacks of panic or intense fear.
- Social anxiety disorder – causes sufferers to experience extreme fear in social settings. Fear of being judged or scrutinised by others is often a key trigger to this social phobia.
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) – a pattern of unwanted fears which cause someone to perform certain routines repeatedly or to have repetitive thoughts that also impair general functioning.
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – often begins after a very traumatic event. Sufferers can consequently feel a heightened sense of danger as their flight or fight response is altered.
Can hypnosis help with anxiety and stress?
Hypnosis for anxiety and stress seeks to determine when and how the original trigger was established and the learned behaviour subsequently embedded. The technique can certainly help those who have had enough and want to invoke a change in their life.
Anxiety hypnotherapy is renowned for its effectiveness in helping sufferers overcome these distressing and also debilitating conditions.
How does hypnotherapy for anxiety and stress work?
Our subconscious is the amazing, automated part of our mind that controls all of our bodily functions. Breathing, keeping our hearts beating and also pumping the blood around our bodies to name a few rather critical life functions. It certainly is astounding at keeping us alive and yet we rarely give it a second thought.
Imagine the subconscious as an amazing computer. In addition to these critical, automated programmes are all of the behaviours that you’ve learned, created and installed over the years. These programmes have developed into patterns of behaviour, ingrained habits and responses – not all of which are bad of course.
In order to change an unwanted behaviour or habit that you no longer need, we will access your subconscious mind. We can do this when both your conscious mind and your body are very deeply relaxed. Once your conscious mind is relaxed we can work with your subconscious and replace the unwanted responses, reactions, habits & behaviours with more preferable, positive ones.
That’s the essence of anxiety hypnosis – eliminating the unwanted, irrational reactions with much more preferable responses.
What happens during an anxiety hypnosis session?
Firstly, let me reassure you that you will be in complete control throughout our session. You will certainly not be asleep or unconscious during our time together.
Stress or anxiety hypnosis starts by guiding you into a state of deep relaxation, both of the body and the conscious mind. As a result, a highly suggestible disposition is induced, which is much easier – using visualisation and imagery – to eliminate negative thought patterns and behaviours. Desirable and positive suggestions can subsequently replace them to help you take back control of your thoughts, emotions and responses.
Once you have your subconscious aligned with your conscious mind, you will find that you have much better control of how you think and feel about aspects of your life, which previously caused you so much stress and anxiety.
How many hypnosis sessions will it take?
In many instances, one session is all that is necessary for you to be able to take control of your thoughts and feelings. However, more intense, complex or deep rooted stress and anxiety may require additional sessions. This will be assessed and discussed between us both to therefore determine the best course of action.
Get in touch so you can be on your way to eliminating the stress or anxiety you are currently experiencing. Take back control of your thoughts and feelings to live a much happier life.
Is anxiety hypnotherapy effective?
Everyone is certainly unique and different. Some people therefore respond better to anxiety hypnotherapy than others.
Nevertheless, there is absolutely no reason why hypnotherapy will not be successful. However, I must be honest and state that results can vary. No hypnotherapist can guarantee 100% success with every client.
People don’t come to therapy to change their past, but their future!
